About Us, Dive HQ & Ski World
This is the leading summer and winter training and retail operation, located in Christchurch in the province of Canterbury, South Island, New Zealand. It offers all year round SCUBA diving and winter snow skiing / boarding services.
Clientele are drawn from around the South Island and Christchurch, which is the largest city and financial hub of the South Island of New Zealand. (It just happens to be one of the greatest rugby provinces in the World too!)
Location
Dive HQ and Ski World is located at 70 Moorhouse Ave., Christchurch, which is one of the four main arteries around the Christchurch CBD, (35 > 45,000 cars per day) It has 130 on site car parks ideally suiting destination shopping. Dual access (front & rear) is a clear advantage.

Historical
70 Moorhouse Ave is totally unique as it encompasses some 40 years of diver training in Christchurch. Nearly two generations of South Islanders have been trained at this site. With business takeover from various locations, the consolidation of Dive HQ and Ski World has drawn clientele to this location making it the No 1 destination for divers and skiers alike.
Premises
Dive HQ and Ski World occupies approximately 6000 sq. ft of space which includes drive through tank filling and SCUBA hire access.
Geographical
The South Island of New Zealand is recognised as a major adventure playground with easy access through its international airport to summer and winter adventure activities on which Dive HQ and Ski World has based its business. All facets that the business caters for are available within approximately 1-2 hours drive.
For instance:
Local diving training is available within 20 minutes drive from the store at Banks Peninsula.
Diving in the pristine and spectacular high country Lake Coleridge just 1.25 drive.
Kaikoura > Whale watching, dolphin swimming, diving & fishing. (2 hours).
Banks Peninsula > Akaroa, a quaint tourist village with unique French History and great diving / fishing / scenery / Hectors dolphin. (1 Hour).
Methven > Internationally recognised Mt Hutt Ski-field, is credited with the longest opening field in the Southern Hemisphere and is 1.25 hrs drive from Christchurch.
Porter Heights (features the longest ski run in the Southern Hemisphere) and the various ski fields of the Craigieburn range is the Canterbury ski and snow playground.
Further a-field but still catered for by Dive HQ and Ski World is:
Fiordland World Heritage National Park which is recognized in diving as having the Worlds largest colonies of Black Coral within easy diving depths (est. 7,000,000 colonies). Dive HQ and Ski World organizes charters to this wonderland.
Queenstown > the adventure playground of the deep south. Featuring World Class ski areas including: Coronet Peak and The Remarkables
Wanaka > Also featuring World Class ski areas including: Treble Cone, Snow Farm and Snow Park(Rated as one of if not the best Ski and Snowboard parks in the world!)
Picton > Marlborough Sounds > Diving, fishing, water-skiing playground including the wreck of the Mikhail Lermontov 25,000 ton Russian Cruise Liner.
Climatic Conditions
South Island of New Zealand enjoys a temperate climate, which is moderated by the close proximity of the sea in all parts of the island and because of the unique phenomena created by the Main Alpine Divide. This enables both divers and snow skiers to carry out their recreation all on the same day and all within an hours drive from the city!
