The Wreck of the Mikhail Lermontov

Based at the very cosy and secluded Lermontov Lodge in Port Gore, only 5-10 minute by boat to the Mikhail Lermontov. The Lermontov lies in 38m of water and sits on its starboard side. Access to the wreck starts at 12-15 meters and you will be blown away by the size of the wreck. Most of the diving is done between 15 and 25 meters.

We are also looking at diving the Lastingham Wreck and Gannet Point while we up in Port Gore .The Lastingham was a steel sailing ship lost in northerly gale in 1883, along with 18 crew and passengers including the skipper, his wife and young child. She lies in 8 to 20 meters of water, a fantastic wreck and reef dive, with plenty of fish life including some very big crayfish. Gannet Point, lovely shallow reef dive with nice swim tru’s sea caves and heaps of Crays. Great for a second or third dive after diving the Lermontov.

Depart: Thursday 22th of October at 9am   Return: Monday 26th of October at 5pm

Remember Monday the 26th of October is Labour Day

• Complimentary Transport to and from Port Gore and returning to Dive HQ Christchurch
• Accommodations for 4 nights (Normally only 3 nights but we stay an extra night)
• All bedding along with bath towel.
• Light breakfast, lunch, and dinner (Including dinner for the first night)
• 3 Days of diving the Lermontov Wreck with up to 3 dives per day depending on conditions
• 2 Tank refills per day included,  additional tank fills at $12 per fill.  

Extras:

• Nitrox is recommended and is charged at 9c per liter of oxygen
• Full rental gear if you don’t have your own. Your friendly staff at Dive HQ will be happy to help

What to bring with you:

• All your dive gear including 2 dive lights (one as back up)
• 1 Dive tank (Hire tanks available at Dive HQ)
• Snacks (highly recommended) and own drinks
• Warm clothes as the nights can get chilly
• Toiletries and swimming towel

What’s required:

• Certified PADI Advanced open water diver or equivalent
• Training courses can be arranged to be done while diving on the Lermontov
• Wreck Specialty Course is $315, normally $599
• Nitrox Course is $299, normally $399
• Advanced Open Water $449, normally $599
