"This is the coolest job in the world!”

I started my course with no diving experience but I was a very confident swimmer, I loved the ocean and just knew the course was going to be so cool. After graduating, I got my first job as a dive instructor in Airlie Beach (The Whitsunday’s). I spent nearly every day diving in tropical water, seeing amazing marine life. I worked with the coolest bunch of people who became like family. I have also worked in Tasmania, where I was involved in the Open Water training of cast members for the TV series Gourmet Famer Afloat, and have done some stunt diving work for a Microsoft TV advertisment.

“Go for it, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done!”

Diving has given me so many opportunities and has taken me around the world. From New Caledonia, and diving on the President Coolidge wreck in Vanuatu, to wreck diving and hunting spider crabs in cold waters of the UK. Now I am instructing and managing SCUBA diving at Qamea Resort and Spa, in Fiji. I will never forget Lake Coleridge, it’s a beautiful place, diving the wrecks in the Marlborough Sounds, and the highlight was definitely the Mikhail Lermontov wreck. Dive HQ Christchurch are professional with all that they do and have given me a great set of skills to be a Diving Instructor.

“I love sitting underwater watching seahorses!”

After completing a try-dive in the pool, I enrolled onto the Diploma with Dive HQ Christchurch. All the diving in Picton was great, especially watching seahorses on the night dives and I loved the phosphorescence. Now I’m working in Port Douglas, North Queensland, on two dive boats, where my job includes hanging out with snorkelers, leading groups of certified divers or even teaching first time divers and taking them on the most unforgettable dives of their lives. I’ve been lucky enough to swim with Minkie wales. It’s an un-explainable feeling being next to such a huge curious creature.
